How can it be?

How can it be that beneath the surface of all our Christmas shopping and buying lies an aching that none of our purchases can heal?

How is it, God, that your coming scatters our priorities, empties us of all that is not important, and hallows a place in us that only you can fill?

How can it be that the Almighty God would bend into the folds of mortal flesh just to be near us and fill us with abundant life?

May Your light ever grow in us, swelling our life with your Spirit so we might bear Your love to the world. Let it be so now, in us we pray.
